The allure of painting with melted beeswax has held me captive for over 25 years. This method of painting is thousands of years old with many ancient Egyptian funeral portraits still is perfect condition. I add both natural pigments and oils to my process and often use portions of my photographs to embed into the wax. All paintings are on cradled wood panels. I paint daily in my studio that is 150 feet from the waterfalls on the Sucker River.

Delores Fiers, Guest Artist
I am a mixed-media artist. Handmade paper is my primary medium. For me, making art means creatively reusing the earth’s resources. I make paper pulp from cattail and iris leaves and take commercial paper back to its pulp form. Then I cast the pulp is on a mold. My art may take the form of a bowl, platter, or shadow box. Images in my art contain elements found in nature or reflect seasonal changes that are so much a part of the Minnesota landscape.
